Team Dublin Marathon – Week 12 Blog
Run 1 – Ran this on Tuesday morning – I was wrecked from the long run on Sunday. Run went well but I had to rush it at the end to get back for school pickup. Tuesday evening I went to Sports Therapist David Ivers for a massage. He was remarking that my muscles are soft and legs are in good shape so I’ll just keep doing what I’m doing.
Thursday – Pilates – Find this great for improving core strength.
Run 2 – Workout – This was a disaster, I left it until Friday but I wasn’t feeling great so decided to do it on the treadmill. I had to stop after 30 minutes; turned out I had a bit of a bug so chalked it up and went to bed.
Run 3 – Long run. Was feeling much better on Saturday morning so headed out at lunchtime. I covered the 18 miles in 3:44, which I was very happy with but I may have run a bit fast for a slow run as I got a stitch at mile 17 but I ran through it and was grand for mile 18. I felt really good after this run. I had my support crew meet me at the half way mark for water and gel.
Run 4 – Thirty min recovery jog with the kids and dogs on Sunday afternoon.
The team has been offered the opportunity to undergo elite VO2 fitness testing this week so I’m looking forward to that and using the results to maximize my training.
